🦚 The 12 Days of Vocal Health 🦚

December 2024

Hello Reader!

Happy Holidays from Peacock Voices!

Your voice shapes how others see you—are you giving it the care it needs to shine?

To help you show up with confidence and impact, we’ve created the 12 Days of Vocal Health: practical, quick tips to keep your voice strong all season long.

Here are the highlights:

1. Warm Up – Your voice deserves a morning stretch. A little SOVT with a straw goes a long way. (Check out this video for some SOVT exercises.)

2. Cool Down – Think of it as a post-workout stretch but for your voice. A gentle hum works wonders.

3. Sleep – Rest is non-negotiable. Your voice rejuvenates when you do.

4. Hydrate – Aim for half your body weight in ounces of water. (Sorry, holiday cocktails don’t count.)

5. Avoid Loud Spaces – In noisy rooms, move your resonance forward to project without straining.

6. Use a Humidifier – Dry air is your voice’s enemy. A personal humidifier can make a big difference.

7. Avoid Throat Clearing – Swallow or sip water instead, to avoid irritating your vocal folds.

8. Breathe Like a Pro – Back breathing supports healthy phonation and reduces strain.

9. Avoid Whispering – Whispering is tiring for your voice! Speak softly while still properly phonating.

10. Watch Out for Vocal Fry – Energize your speech to avoid that fatigued, “creaky” sound.

11. Pace Yourself – Plan your week to balance high-voice-use days with vocal rest.

12. Listen to Your Body – When you’re tired, stop talking. Hydrate. Rest. Protect your voice.

Why does this matter?

Your voice is how you connect, lead, and inspire. Keeping it strong is key to confidently commanding attention, especially in leadership roles.

We’re told to “speak up” or “be more outgoing,” as if transforming into someone else is the only way to succeed. But here’s the truth You don’t need to change who you are to amplify your impact. Instead, I’ll guide you...
